# MAS-01 Multi-agent topology documentation

Domain: MAS Multi-Agent Systems · HI-AAF v1.3 · Public review · https://humanintel.net/standard/mas/mas-01

The multi-agent topology is documented: which agents are orchestrators, which are workers or sub-agents, what calls are permitted between each interface, what data passes across each interface, and which external agents participate.

The multi-agent topology is documented as part of the Behavior Charter (GOV-02) for each participating agent. Documentation covers which agents are orchestrators, which are workers or sub-agents, what calls are permitted between each interface, what data passes across each interface, and which external agents (if any) participate. Without this documentation, no other MAS control is assessable.

## Maturity

- L1 Ad hoc: Controls exist informally; documentation is incomplete; no consistent review.
- L2 Documented: Controls are written down; ownership is assigned; review cadence is defined.
- L3 Operated: Controls are followed in practice; evidence is collected; deviations are tracked. Published criterion for MAS-01: Topology documentation exists for all multi-agent systems; documentation is current within the Behavior Charter review cadence; the topology covers all participating agents including external agents; changes to topology go through change management.
- L4 Measured: Control effectiveness is measured against documented thresholds; trends are reported.
- L5 Continuously Improved: Controls evolve based on incident learning; maturity gains are evidenced over time.

## Evidence an assessor asks for

- Topology documentation exists for all multi-agent systems.
- Documentation is current within the Behavior Charter review cadence.
- The topology covers all participating agents including external agents.
- Changes to topology go through change management.

## Framework mappings

- NIST AI RMF: GOVERN 6.1
- SOC 2 (TSC): CC2.1
- EU AI Act: Art. 25(1)
- Singapore: MAIGF Accountability

Mappings are directional: meeting this control evidences but does not by itself satisfy the external requirement.
